NEW JAPAN TODAY COLUMN ON ALBERTO FUJIMORI
RUSSIAN TV STATION RTR INTERVIEW

Just a couple of blurbs this time.

HTB INTERVIEW TOMORROW, FRI JULY 20, 6:30 PM, ON ELECTIONS

If you are in the Hokkaido area , check out Hokkaido TV (channel 35) News
Corner, "Yuugata Dondon" on this coming Friday, where there will a series of
interviews on people and what they think about the upcoming General
Election. I was asked not about the onsens (for a change), but my view (as
a naturalized first-time voter) about what I feel about each political party
(I even managed to talk about the Japan Communist Party's undemocratic
process of "democratic centralism", or "minshu shuuchuusei"; we'll see if it
makes the cut), and about Japan's electoral process in general.

(see my collated thoughts on Hokkaido's four major political parties,
collated after lobbying them on April 16, 2001, at
http://www.debito.org/lobbying041601.html)

NEW JAPAN TODAY COLUMN ON ALBERTO FUJIMORI

I make the case that former Peruvian President Fujimori, a fugitive
currently being harbored by our country, should face justice and be
extradicted.

RUSSIAN TV STATION RTR INTERVIEW

Last week my wife and I met Elena V Masyuk, of the Russian Television and
Radio Broadcasting Company, for an interview on the Otaru Onsens issue. I
think they are the biggest broadcaster in Russia (RTR news broadcasts are
shown daily on Japan's BS satellite TV network as representative of the
Russian view), and according to our interpreter Ms Masyuk is a very
well-known reporter. Hopefully they will let me know exactly when the show
will be broadcast. Readers of this message in Russia, keep an eye out.

All for now. Best wishes,
Arudou Debito
Misawa
