Hi Blog. Here we have a report from human rights group IMADR, along with a number of other NGOs, making their case to the UN CERD Committee again about discrimination in Japan. The UN then makes recommendations, and then the GOJ answers once again that those recommendations are unfeasible. It’s the same process that has been going on for decades, my recent research has shown. I’ll share that paper with you when it gets published. Meanwhile, enjoy the circus below. What a bunch of bullpuckey.
Isn’t a single case of such discrimination — or even the possibility of same — reason enough to have such a law on the books?
Does a society have to wait for murders to occur before enacting laws prohibiting them?

In Japan…Yes! The policy is “head in the ground” until someone or something forces them to “pull their head out.”
I do hope point 3 on page 5 is an error in writing, or a poor choice of ambiguous grammar that was missed in proofreading. Re: use of “condone” vs. “condemn”.
They should send this to Reuters or AP, not the GOJ. Then maybe it will have some impact, now its just a waste of paper.
