Will keep you posted [CONCLUDED]"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hi Blog. \u00a0Another quick one as the weather deteriorates. \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.hawaiinewsnow.com\/story\/32421028\/tropical-storm-warning-posted-for-big-island-maui-county\" target=\"_blank\">Tropical Storm Darby<\/a> is about to swipe\u00a0Hawaii. \u00a0Hopefully the damage won&#8217;t be too severe, but we&#8217;re anticipating heavy rainfall and flash floods. \u00a0Will keep you posted as the situation develops. \u00a0Debito<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>&#8212; UPDATE SUN JULY 24:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Darby has passed by Big Island and left its mark. \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/weather.com\/storms\/hurricane\/news\/tropical-depression-five-e-tropical-storm-darby-hurricane\" target=\"_blank\">Up next are Oahu and Kauai<\/a>. \u00a0Where I am there&#8217;s been a lot of rain but nothing too scary (I&#8217;ve seen worse cloudbursts; it&#8217;s just mostly steady misty rain.) \u00a0Nothing I see to worry about yet.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">&#8212; UPDATE MON JULY 25:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>What a difference a day can make. \u00a0The <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hurricane_Darby_(2016)\" target=\"_blank\">storm hit us during yesterday\u00a0afternoon and dumped in some places 2-4 inches of rain per hour<\/a>. \u00a0Downtown Honolulu, particularly Ala Moana, Chinatown, and the main road arteries were flooded to the point of cars floating. \u00a0I personally received reports of people stranded in traffic between exits for hours on the H1. \u00a0That said, it was far more rain than wind, and life is getting back to normal already on this sunny Monday morning. \u00a0This rare hit of Oahu by a tropical was nothing like <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hurricane_Iniki\" target=\"_blank\">Iniki&#8217;s hit of Kauai in 1992<\/a>, which damaged several areas beyond repair. \u00a0Nor is it like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/2014\/10\/27\/hamilton-library-thrives-10-years-after-devastating-flood\/\" target=\"_blank\">the storm that flooded UH Manoa in 2004<\/a> and almost killed several library students attending class in the basement.<\/p>\n<p>So all is well. \u00a0Concluding this topic. \u00a0Thanks for reading.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Another quick one as the weather deteriorates.
