The media helps.  Not only do we have &#8220;Darling wa Gaikokujin&#8221; cartoon character slash &#8220;Writer&#8221;\u00a0Tony Laszlo appearing as himself (in one of the most frightening photos I&#8217;ve ever seen of him) in the &#8220;Money&#8221; Section of the Asahi (May 17, 2008), he still has the byline of &#8220;Administrator of NGO ISSHO Kikaku&#8221;.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s odd for a number of reasons, but we&#8217;ll stick to the facts, that a) ISSHO Kikaku&#8217;s website (www.issho.org), containing years of work by other NJ activists, has been offline for 2 1\/2 years, and has even recently mutated to plain gibberish (today&#8217;s download):<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.debito.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/05\/isshogibberish052908.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1693\" title=\"isshogibberish052908\" src=\"https:\/\/www.debito.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/05\/isshogibberish052908.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"115\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.debito.org\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/05\/isshogibberish052908.jpg 919w, https:\/\/www.debito.org\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/05\/isshogibberish052908-300x69.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>and then b) there is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>NO NGO registered as &#8220;ISSHO Kikaku&#8221;<\/strong><\/span> at websites recording NGOs registered in Japan. \u00a0I guess the reporter didn&#8217;t fact check before publication.<\/p>\n<p>Never mind. \u00a0He&#8217;s being portrayed as a doting father. \u00a0Good, but that&#8217;s neither &#8220;Money&#8221; nor news. \u00a0And it may be the only thing factual in this Asahi article. \u00a0See it after the next paragraph.<\/p>\n<p>Why do I have it in for this guy? \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.debito.org\/?p=139\">Because he&#8217;s a person who erases the historical record of NJ &#8220;Newcomers&#8221; in Japan<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.debito.org\/letterlazlawyer.html\">threatens to sue people who want to maintain it<\/a>. \u00a0Start <a href=\"https:\/\/www.debito.org\/?p=139\">here for substantiation<\/a>. \u00a0More <a href=\"https:\/\/www.debito.org\/?cat=25\">on the Debito.org Blog about this character here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Arudou Debito in Sapporo<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.debito.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/05\/asahi051708.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1692\" title=\"asahi051708\" src=\"https:\/\/www.debito.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/05\/asahi051708.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"453\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.debito.org\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/05\/asahi051708.jpg 1274w, https:\/\/www.debito.org\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/05\/asahi051708-300x271.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a>ENDS<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I find it pretty amazing how myths persist.
