\n Dear All, We\u2019ve finally set the date for the FCCJ Kansai Professor\u2019s Workshop, so mark your calendar. It will be held on SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 15th, from 3 to 5 p.m., at the Imadegawa Campus of Doshisha University. See details below.<\/strong><\/p>\n

FCCJ KANSAI PROFESSORS\u2019 WORKSHOP

\nCOST: 3,000 yen\/person (includes tea and coffee)

PROGRAM (tentative)
\nI. Welcome and Introduction by Eric Johnston, The Japan Times, Osaka bureau, and member of the Scholarship Committee
\nII. Explanation of FCCJ by Martyn Williams (Tokyo bureau chief, IDG, and 2007-08 President of FCCJ)
\nIII. Explanation of the role of the FCCJ Scholarship Committee, including the Scholarship Fund that is available to interested students and the Student Internship Program
\nIV. Workshop Exercise, including mock press conference
\nV. General Discussion \u2013Ethical and Practical Issues facing foreign correspondents today
\nVI. Wrap Up<\/strong><\/p>\n

Afterwards, those who wish can join us for dinner and drinks in central Kyoto. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Please let me know as soon as possible if you can attend, and please let any other interested professors know about the workshop. As FCCJ is a journalism organization, we’re especially interested in reaching out to following types of educators and hope they will attend:<\/strong><\/p>\n

1) Those teaching journalism
\n2) Those teaching media studies or media ethics
\n3) Those who teach English or other subjects, but are interested in introducing investigative journalism techniques into their classroom presentations.
\n4) Those who teach English or other subjects, but wish to make contact with FCCJ journalists for professional reasons.<\/strong><\/p>\n
