UPDATES ON TWITTER: arudoudebito
Hi Blog. Just let you know: I joined Twitter today (twitter.com). If you want quick updates in text on your phone and somesuch (how it works, article here, courtesy of Rick N, who introduced me to the service), join or sign up. It’ll probably be just quick links in real time to what’s been blogged, or announcements of important rallies and such, but we’ll see. Only been a member for a couple of hours now and already have 39 “followers” (odd term, but that’s how it’s rendered). FYI. Debito in Sapporo

Brave new world. Everyone’s getting updates in 140 characters or fewer.

Using twitter for new blog post and event announcements, with the appropriate tags, is indeed maybe the best use of the service.

can also be used for crowdsourcing

by crowdsourcing, i mean that if debito san needs an answer to a particular question, he simply posts on twitter and his legion of followers send him the answer. usually it will be a good approximation if not the 100% best answer. after receiving a number of replies, you will see how they are trending and can choose a best answer. once you get the answer, post that you got it and thanks. this of course, works better with a large number of followers. maybe 50,000? i would suggest debito to flog his twitter account at every opportunity. japan times, speeches, lectures, ralleys, protests, meet & greets, speeches and whatnot to get his numbers up.
examples of using twitter to crowdsource would be leo laporte – This Week in Tech and also his radio show, The Tech Guy. These are live shows, so he needs the answers in real time.

arudoudebito is not searchable on twitter. Cannot add it
– I’ve been added by fifty people so far without incident so far. Dunno what’s wrong.

@AWK – You don’t need to search for someone if you already have their twitter user name, just use the URL http://twitter.com/user name] (in this case http://twitter.com/arudoudebito )
