I’ve been leaving a ton of comments recently, but this is an important one, Debito-san. I’ve read in your other posts that you have no trouble going through American immigration as a white guy with a Japanese passport, but how about getting an American visa? I’m not sure what the visa rules are between America and Japan, or if you even need a visa, but I’m just curious about the process you go through when traveling back to the States on your J passport. I ask because I myself am thinking of naturalizing here in my country of residence (requires giving up my American citizenship) and I’m interested in your experience. Care to shed any light?
–Happy to. I’ve never had to get a visa because I was always going to the US on short stays (three months or less). Under those circumstances, Japanese don’t need visas. Simple as that. Hope that helps, Debito
